Lest We Forget

Municipality of Pictou County Warden Robert Parker lays a wreath at the County Remembrance Day Service on Nov. 4 in Pictou.   Individual Remembrance Day Services will be taking place on Nov. 11 in many communities.   

EUREKA - Remembrance Day Service at the Eureka Cenotaph at 11 a.m.    

GLENCOE- 2:30 p.m. Remembrance Day Service at the Glencoe Community Hall, located at 957 East River East Side Road, Glencoe.

NEW GLASGOW – 10:30 a.m. parade from Royal Canadian Legion Normandy Branch 34 in New Glasgow to the Remembrance Day Service at Carmicheal Park in New Glasgow at 11 a.m.

PICTOU – 11 a.m. Remembrance Day Service at cenotaph in Pictou. If inclement weather,  the service will be held at the DeCoste Entertainment Centre.  Legion Banquet 6:30 p.m. with dance to follow music by Glenn Baker. Tickets available at bar $10 dollars.

RIVER JOHN- 10:45 P.M. Remembrance Day Service at the cenotaph followed by a service at the St. John's Anglican Church in River John at 11 a.m. 

STELLARTON - The parade marches from the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 28 to the cenotaph for 11 a.m.  Remembrance Day service.   The service will involve the laying of wreaths and guest speaker.

SUNNY BRAE – 2 p.m. service at the Sunny Brae Veteran’s Memorial in Sunny Brae.  Guest Speaker will be Tim Houston, Nova Scotia Progressive Conservative leader.  Light lunch and reception to follow in IOOF Hall in Sunny Brae. Admission is free.  If weather is inclement, the service will be held in the Calvin Presbyterian Church in Sunny Brae.

TRENTON - 11 a.m. service at the cenotaph on High Street. Reception to follow at Royal Canadian Legion Branch 29, Trenton.

THORBURN – 11 a.m. service at the cenotaph in Thorburn.  In case of inclement weather, it will be held at Union Presbyterian Church. The congregation of Union Church is invited to attend Sunday Worship at Sutherland’s River Presbyterian Church, 9:30 a.m.

WESTVILLE -  11 a.m. service at the cenotaph on Main Street, Westville.
