The Town of New Glasgow will be closing the Comfort Centre located at Summer Street to allow them to transition to providing shelter needs for rural residents that have been displaced by Hurricane Fiona. They will be opening a new Comfort Centre starting October 1st at the North End Recreation Centre located at 534 High Street, New Glasgow, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Ward One Community Centre continues to operate from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
The Comfort Centre provides coffee/tea and allows residents to charge their electronic devices. Diapers and formulas will also be available. The Town of New Glasgow is working in collaboration with Nova Scotia Power to clear streets as they work to restore power.
