Thank you to the Volunteers

This is National Volunteer Week; I would like to express appreciation to all the volunteers in Nova Scotia and a special shout out to all the volunteer groups and individuals in District 9.

Thank you to the Linacy Fire Department and Linacy Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary for their tremendous service.  There are not enough words to express appreciation and gratitude to individuals that serve their communities by responding to fires, emergencies and natural disasters to keep us safe. Thank you to the Hillside Community Society which made the dream of a community centre in Hillside a reality, a wonderful place that will enable the community to be brought together to access a variety of  recreational and social needs. Thank you to the Hillside Girls Club for over 75 years of dedication to programs and skills for young girls.

Thank you to Ellen Murphy and Sandra Hattie for keep Anna Carmichael’s dream alive. Thank you to Steve and Dee Stewart for organizing the motorcycles ride to Camp Connect each year. An event everyone should witness. Thank you to Kennedy Tupper of Anderson’s Mountain who has always stepped up to help others, the most recent being this week to raise funds for the families of this week's tragedy.

Thank you to all the volunteers in our area that give of their time, monies and talents to the food bank, Kinsmen, the Shepherd’s Lunch Room, the legions, the school programs, the coaches, big brothers and Special Olympic. Thank you to all volunteers who give their time to be mentors to others and help our communities grow. Thank you to everyone that gives of their time to support causes and programs they believe in and ask for nothing in return. Pictou County is a much better place to live because of you. We are Nova Scotia Strong!
