ALMA, N.S. - Residents of Alma-Springfield Estates will soon be receiving information packages regarding wastewater and water hookup.
The Municipality of Pictou County recently completed a $2.1 million project for the 25 residents of Alma-Springfield Estates that will allow them to connect to the Municipality’s new wastewater and water services.
The project was cost-shared through the Clean Water and Wastewater Fund which saw the federal and provincial governments contribute to 75 per cent of the costs and Municipality of Pictou County covering 25 per cent.
Council listed Alma-Springfield Estates wastewater and water as a capital project in September 2016 and it was completed in the fall of 2018.
The packages being sent to residents outline the criteria needed to connect to the water and wastewater systems, including timelines, costs and exemptions. Eligible residents have one year to connect to the wastewater system.
