The Hillside Community Centre officially opened its doors on Dec. 15 with a presentation by Clyde MacDonald, front, left, and Philip MacKenzie, front, right. The two men presented the community centre with a photo of the Murray Quintuplets that were born in Hillside in the 1800s and were the first quintuplets born in Canada. Unfortunately, the infants died shortly after their birth.
A plaque was also unveiled in honour of the Murray Quintuplets birth by the Municipality of Pictou County last February and remains on display in the County's administration building.
On hand, for the presentation, the community hall, are from the back left: MOPC District 9 Coun. Peter Boyles, Willy Murray, Sandy Murray and Donald Fraser.
