Riverview Home Corp. is today announcing that Mr. Heath Spencer will be assuming the role of CEO of the corporation effective August 10th. Mr. Spencer brings extensive experience as an administrator within the health care and residential care sectors. Currently he is working as the executive director of Home Support Services in Lunenburg County and previously filled a similar role in Shelburne County.
Board Chairperson, David Parker said “we are fortunate to find someone with the breadth of experience and passion for the role that Mr. Spencer brings. He is familiar with the many changes occurring in the residential home sector of the Department of Community Services and committed to helping each individual to achieve their potential. He looks forward to the transition from a larger institution to more inclusion within the community”.
Riverview Home Corporation provides services to individuals with diverse physical and/or mental challenges.
Riverview Home Corporation operates a larger facility in Riverton with a capacity of 51 residents as well as 8 group homes with a further capacity of more than 40. They have recently added two child and youth homes, one in Truro and one in Stellarton. Also, as part of their social enterprise initiatives they have opened a cafe in downtown New Glasgow. This will provide employment to some of their residents once the COVID 19 restrictions are removed.
Parker said “we certainly wish to thank our outgoing CEO, Mr. Guy Pellerine whose leadership over the last two years helped us open the cafe and the child and youth group homes. We are evolving to the benefit of our clients”.
Mr. Pellerine is leaving to create his own business that he hopes will give him more flexibility with his young family. We wish him all the best.
Additionally, the Board is announcing their plan to hire or contract a full time Human Resources specialist. “With more than 250 employees at multiple sites, management of our people is increasingly complex. As well there are currently complexities added by the COVID 19 pandemic” Parker said. They hope to fill this role by August.
