Service Recognition for Retiring FD Members

The Linacy Fire Department has a changing of the guard. Bob MacLean, left, who has been a member of the department for 55 years as a firefighter and has taken on the role of president, as well as Don Sutherland, who has been its treasurer for 10 years, recently retired.

District 9 Coun. Peter Boyles presented the men with plaques of recognition on behalf of the Municipality of Pictou County for their many years of service.

“To see people put in the service that Bob and Don did to keep the department going in regard to its finances, training and recruitment, is really something,” said Coun. Boyles.
The Linacy Fire Department has 55 active members and welcomes new volunteers.
