Nov. 11 Remembrance Day Services in Pictou County

Staff with the Municipality of Pictou County joined Warden Robert Parker in a special flag-raising in honour of veterans and the men and women who continue to serve our country.   This flag will be flying proudly outside of our Administration Building until after Remembrance Day.

Here is a list of Remembrance Day Services taking place in Pictou County on Nov.11. 

EUREKA - The Remembrance Day Service is held at the Eureka and District Fire Hall. The cenotaph is outside and guests gather inside before 11 and march outside for a short service. A service with guest speaker, followed by lunch is then held inside.

HOPEWELL - Service at First Presbyterian Church in Hopewell at 10:45 a.m.

NEW GLASGOW – 10:30 a.m. parade from Royal Canadian Legion Normandy Branch 34 in New Glasgow to the Remembrance Day Service at Carmicheal Park in New Glasgow at 11 a.m.

RIVER JOHN- 10:45 P.M. Remembrance Day Service at the cenotaph followed by a service at the St. John's Anglican Church in River John at 11 a.m. 

PICTOU – 11 a.m. Remembrance Day Service at cenotaph in Pictou.  Legion Banquet 6:30 p.m. with dance to follow. Tickets available at bar $10 dollars.

28 STELLARTON - The parade marches from the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 28 to the cenotaph for 11 a.m.  Remembrance Day service.   The service will involve the laying of wreaths and guest speaker.

29 TRENTON - 11 a.m. service at the cenotaph on High Street. Reception to follow at Royal Canadian Legion Branch 29, Trenton.

THORBURN – 11 a.m. service at the cenotaph in Thorburn.  In case of inclement weather, it will be held at Union Presbyterian Church.  

35 WESTVILLE - 11 a.m. service at the cenotaph on Main Street, Westville.5

SUNNY BRAE – 2 p.m. service at the Sunny Brae Veteran’s Memorial in Sunny Brae.  Guest Speaker will be Municipality of Pictou County Warden Robert Parker.  Light lunch and reception to follow in IOOF Hall in Sunny Brae. If weather is inclement, the service will be held in the Calvin Presbyterian Church in Sunny Brae.

GLENCOE - Service at 2:30 p.m. at the Glencoe Hall located at 957 East River East Side Road, Glencoe. The wreath laying will take place at the cenotaph across the street from the hall and the service will inside the hall.   There will be a guest speaker and light refreshments following the service.
