PICTOU, NS - Valley View Villa has shown significant financial improvements in 2018.
District 1 Coun. Don Butler said during a report to Council Monday that High Crest Solutions, which is the organization that administers Valley View Villa, recently reported that at the end of 2018, the financial performance of the Riverton home had improved by $520,000 from the previous year.
“In fact, since September 2018, the organization has been reporting a positive debt ratio,” he said. “This represents the second year of their contract services with a dedicated focus of implementing the Transition Plan adopted by the Board of Directors in April 2017. Throughout the year, measurable improvements in all aspects of the organization’s governance, administration and finance have been improved.”
High Crest Solutions entered into a 10-year contract with Valley View Villa in April 2017 and he said they are committed to achieving sustainability in five years. Valley View Villa, operated by The Riverton Guest Home Corporation, is a Municipal Owned Home for Special Care, operated by a municipally appointed Board of Governors. The Board’s primary responsibility is to ensure that this facility operates in accordance with regulations made under the Homes for Special Care Act of Nova Scotia, as well as other applicable legislation.
Coun. Butler, who sits on the board of directors for the Riverton Guest Home Cooperation, said with the progress achieved this year and the emerging trends, High Crest Solutions remains confident that the operational and financial improvements with continue at Valley View Villa.
“These outcomes are essential elements for Valley View Villa as they move towards the realization of accreditation goals,” he said.
High Crest Solutions is now embarking upon a one-year strategic planning process which will involve all stakeholders. Once completed, it will be an important building block in bringing Valley View Villa closer to accreditation, Butler added.
