Fire Inspection Office

The Fire Inspection Office is a branch of the MOPC’s Department of Emergency Services.

The mandate of the Fire Inspection Office is to advocate fire safety primarily through education and secondly enforcement with the authority granted by the Fire Safety Act. The goal of the Fire Inspection Office is to promote safety for the public, building occupants and responding firefighters.

The MOPC’s Fire Inspection Office conducts regular fire safety inspections of various types of occupancies as required by the Nova Scotia Fire Safety Act. These inspections are conducted to ensure that public safety is maintained through compliance with the Nova Scotia Fire Safety Regulations and the National Fire Code of Canada.
