The Municipality of the County of Pictou takes pride in being an active, secure, accessible and healthy place to live, work and visit. To sustain these objectives, we offer a comprehensive structure of municipal services.

The responsibilities of the Public Works Department and Development are many and varied, including, but not limited to:

To provide municipal water and sewer services to residents of serviced areas.

To provide facility maintenance, upgrading, and repair of support services for municipally owned properties, including municipal roads, sidewalks, and water and wastewater systems

To provide maintenance to the grounds of all municipality owned properties and buildings

To support bylaw enforcement and building services within the municipality.

To provide transparent information to the public related to municipality initiatives and infrastructure.

To promote and support development of the region and encourage investment. 

Roads and Sidewalks:
The MOPC only ploughs Municipality-Owned roads and sidewalks. They are as follows:

Private roads and laneways are not maintained or ploughed by the Municipality.

 

Water Services: 

The Municipality purchases treated potable water from neighbouring municipal units to distribute it to our residents. Wastewater Services:

The Municipality is services by a variety of wastewater treatment plants located throughout Pictou County. Our wastewater collection networks includes communities throughout the region and we continually strive to grow these serviced areas to promote the growth and enjoyment of our Municipality.

The Department of Public Works & Development is made up of 10 staff, ranging in specialization to provide the highest levels of service possible to our residents. We strive to continually improve our services delivery and to respond to inquiries in a prompt and timely fashion.
