The Municipality of Pictou County ended its 2023-2024 fiscal year in good financial standing.
Municipal Council accepted the audited financial statements during a special meeting on Monday, March 24, 2025. The Municipality ended the year with a consolidated surplus of $6.7 million and an accumulated surplus of $71,678,859.
The Municipality’s largest revenue source continues to be property taxes at $24.2 million, of which 5.6 million is collected for Education purposes, resulting in a net tax revenue of $18 million.
The Municipalities' general expenditures include: government services at $3.7 million, protective services at $8.3 million, environmental services at $5.2 million and recreation and culture services at $1.2 million, resulting in an operating surplus of $278,221.
The financial statements were audited by MacDonald & Murphy Inc., independent external auditors appointed by the Municipality.
